LAKE CUYAMACA

Recreation and Park District

Hiking at the Lake

There is no better way to experience the beauty of Lake Cuyamaca

than a hike around the lake's perimeter. The trail is a little over three miles, making it an easy half day hike. If you stop along the way to experience the many beautiful spots, and we bet you will, it can stretch out into a full day's worth of pleasure and adventure.

Remember to always be prepared when hiking in the wilderness.

Weather conditions can change rapidly. It is a good idea to have a jacket with you even if the weather looks nice when you leave.

Good hiking or walking boots or shoes, sunscreen and a large hat are always  helpful, as well as plenty of water. It never hurts to bring along a snack or two. If you hike by yourself always let someone know where you intend to go and when you expect to return. Remember to bring along a bag so you can pack out any trash.
